att. Stuart Walker Hi Stuart Freddie Wood here as you can see from below I played hockey from the early sixties until the mid eighties at the highest level. I would like to bring to your attention the recent removal of Stuart Muir from the chair of the SIHA. What a shocking move. I have known Stuart for more than 45 years when he started playing and no one has done more for ice hockey than him, from coaching the kids for many years and many of them playing senior hockey today and spent many years as a referee which he still does travelling all over the country.
He has made tremendous changes to the modern game since taking the chair and involved many senior ex-players to keep in the game. Stuart has done great things for the sport and has been stabbed in the back by his so called colleagues for maybe being too honest and speaking his mind. I hope these persons that think they know better are feeling good about themselves as this was not good for ice hockey in anyway or form. Stuart Muir has given ice hockey many years of his life for the love of the sport and is one of the true stars whom should be recognised for what he as done for others in the game. I think if you were to look into Stuarts past 45 years in ice hockey it would be a fitting tribute for someone to write a book of ice hockey within ice hockey with the true facts and hard times with no holds barred. I hope you read my comments in your guest book of my past hockey days yours in friendshp.

Dear Sirs, your web page http://www.ihjuk.co.uk/hall_of_fame/zamick.htm giving a biography of Victor Zamick has made a grave error in his nickname and thus the title of the page also.

I was fan(atical) follower of "Chic" Zamick, watching every match possible televised on the BBC that I could. Yes, BBC used to televise some matches of the British Ice Hockey League live, and his nickname as you say was taken from a brand of chewing gum, "Chiclets".

Why without a "K"? Because "Chicle" is the name of the natural rubber sap from which Chiclets were made originally. Whether that is still true I don't know. The people who tapped the trees for the sap were and still are called 'Chicleros', though now they are more likely to be involved in searching for and plundering Central and South American archeological sites and not to be trifled with.

Thus Victor's nickname was then and still is "Chic" without a "k". So please, check your sources and correct your web pages, especially Chic's own biography, please.

Maybe my friend you would be kind enough to provide some facts to back up your assertion.

They cannot be sources contemporary with Zamick's long career on Nottingham ice. All such sources such as Panthers match night programmes, as far back as 1948, 'Ice Hockey World Annuals' and even his signature,of which I have several in my archives spell 'Chick' with the final 'k'.

So it is unlikely that his Hall of Fame profile will be changed.

I would be interested if I could at some time have a sight of those programmes. As a historian of the sport in Britain I've authored two recent books on British ice hockey which have brief mentions of George Strubbe. Your message is of great interest, containing as it does his date of birth and passing, other biographical details would be welcomed.

Can anyone send me details such as result, line ups etc, of an International Ice Hockey match played between England and USA at Southampton in 1954 or 1955.
I played in this match aged 17 but I don't have any records or detailed recollections of this major event in my life.
