This week I have decided to try some new immune booster for my cats. I am hopeful that this will work. It is touted to help cats recover from various problems, including cancer and feline leukemia. Time will tell. 16.05.08 22:21 marmay
I have a cat that has been ill for about two weeks. She is bloated but in good spirits otherwise. After my vet neglected some other cats about two weeks ago and they died, I have decided to branch out.
Today I took a black and white kitty in for an exam and the vet bill so far is estimated by the vet to be over 400 dollars. She made me pay 1/2 down and kept the cat. A call later indicates that she has drained the cat down and has sent a blood sample off for testing.
Her prognosis is infectious peritonitis with fluid filling her body cavity over time. I have been giving El the transfer factor for a few days now and have some hope that her continued treatment will effect a stabilization of her condition after a while.
I dont expect miracles but who knows? This stuff is supposed to be great for immune system building for people and pets and I am expecting it to work as advertised. Time will tell. 20.05.08 01:25 marmay
I might add that normally infectious peritonitis is fatal with a 0 survival rate, however this stuff is giving me some kind of hope. It is touted to be effective in all sorts of immune deficiency disease issues and I hope that it works. El is a very good kitty and she and I both want her to live. 20.05.08 01:28 marmay
I got the cat back on Tuesday but the vet was not there(swing shift in a group of 3 vets). I talked to the vet on the phone about the fluid they removed from the pet (2 cups) and later to another vet about the blood test results(low white blood cell count and positive for feline leukemia). They sold me some vitamins and some clindamycin. I have been giving her the pettinnic vitamins and the antibiotic now for several days, twice a day. I have also been continuing giving her some other stuff that is supposed to help her as well. She is doing well so far, with a good appetite although she is not walking around much.
I have not heard from the vet regarding the test result information that was pending on the infectious peritonitis.

The pet was showing improvement and lived for about a week. The other morning I woke to her twitching on the floor and nothing I could do to revive her. She was fine an hour before but at 6 am she had moved her location to near the door and started having problems. I really had a lot of hope but I don't feel like the vet we went to handled her end of the situation or communication with us very well. Her assistant that did the draining of the pet initially informed us that this was her first time...not much faith in that kind of experience. 31.05.08 09:19 marmay
A couple of days after the pet died, there was another pet that came down with symptoms that matched some of the others that died. Labored breathing and listlessness.
I began feeding the pet fluids by mouth and got him to eat some baby food for a little bit, but he was restless and upset when I put him in a cage. So I decided to let him roam and he was ok for about a day, but he finally showed up with an extremely snotty nose and meowing a lot.
I tried to help him but he would not drink anything, I presume his throat was sore. He gagged when I tried to give him some fluids and then he stiffened up and died on me. Such a great cat. He really was counting on me to help. Sorry Blackie, I did what I could. 31.05.08 09:24 |
