jimmy has a contract with the city when he leaves he will get a years salary weather he quits or is fired. Bet you Linda Ryan has one better than that. And you will see Linda work to get rid of Jimmy ,thinking she will get his job. She is one you should keep your eyes on.

It is about time that the city put in a pool, the city has lots of money, Lord knows the town is run down right now because of our city hoarding revenues to lure in some fantasy business that never happened instead of keeping the town fixed up....several generations of kids have missed out on the experience of using a pool here in town. There are not a lot of pools around in this area anymore. Much less one in a safe area for kids.

You are stretching the limits on that last post rog,What has the city water supply really have to do with recent pool issues with bacteria? The dog poundwas never an issue because no one cared. When someone started caring, the city buckled dwn and did something.
Sidewalks would be nice, but you have to have someplace to walk to use them. Without new business, there won't be anyhwere to walk to,or anyone to walk period. Someone mentioned a drug store. I say we need a small grocery store to come in. Lots of elderly residents have trouble getting to the ones outside of town. I know wal-mart and other big chains have us landlocked, but the city should be looking to something like a wal-mart hom grocery or something like that. Quit bitching about the past. Look to the future and help guide our council.

THe city never gave a dam about the ball teams playing on their fancy veterans park ball fields, or the fact that the operations there cost more than they take in....they used to run the sprinklers there all night long...then there is the issue of the fountain in that pond at vp....they used to have that gushing day and night....wasting water, lots of water. The waste has gone on for years and years, yet all of a sudden a kiddie pool   ...can't be maintained?
HOw about that 1/4 million dollar...kiddie park on raymond....that few use...they had no problem blowing that money on that seldom used park. Money that could have been spent on a real pool...and its maintenance...the list goes on.....namechange election was a big waste of money...oh lets not forget the USELESS SLAUGHTER AND ASSOCIATED COSTS that the city pound did for many years   ...of OUR BELOVED PETS after torturing them for days in the decrepit city pound that had a terrible air system until recently...and they would hose the animals down with water hoses to give them pneumonia...   ...OMG DONT GET ME STARTED...but having a kiddie pool is not affordable? For who? I pay plenty for nothing...but the privilege to drive on used worn out unmarked roads, with poor sidewalk coverage on main roads and water I pay double for water that I cannot even drink safely(recent article about water borned bacteria that is chlorine resistant in pools). I try to get an irrigation meter and omg man if you have 2-400 dollars to blow on that, you might get one that works.....and our city cannot afford a pool....well I don't need a pool....Im ok bein hot and dry but kids, that is another matter.

fortunately for all of us that can not happen now. the state legislature changed the rules some years ago. now any seat that becomes vacant can only be occupied by result of an election. our charter used to allow the temporay appointment by the council majority, but that is no longer legal.

Seem to me you are the only one complaining. Come on now, you really miss outz, dont'ya. Go ahead, get it off your chest. You are really a closet Outzer and jut don't have the yangs to admit it. As far a Hatcher goes, I give him 6 months. He'll resign, and Wilson, Smith and Burns will try to seat Sue Miller as a temporary until the election in May. You know, the election where Smith and Wilson lose their place on the council.

SO DID OUTZ, GUNNAR ECT YET NOT ONE OF YOU COMPLAINED WHEN THEY WERE UNABLE TO ATTEND ON THE CONTRARY YOU DEFENDED THEM LOUDLY! WHY IS IT DIFFERANT NOW? YOUR ANSWER IS AWAITED.
    21.07.08 12:39
  • old timer
First you bitch and moan about Outz being involved, now you bitch because he wasn't at a budget meeting after leaving as Mayor. Why would anyone expect Outz or Gunner to be at any city meetings? As fas as Hatcher having a previous engagment, he signed on for the 3 year tour, he is expected to be at htese meetings. He wanted the job, he should do it to his best ability.

If you are truely interested, why not attend the budget sessions and public hearings on the upcoming fiscal year budget. THAT is where/when the decissions are made regarding spending money on projects etc for the next year. speaking in public will do more good than venting here, and yes, I was at the TWO budget workshops, along with Mr Thompson. Mr. Hatcher, our newly elected councilman was NOTICEABLY ABSENT. I wonder why? No reason was given for his absence.

a water park or swimming pool that can not support itself does not last long. this city already has parks that do not support themselves. hundreds of thousands of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ must be transfered from EDC revenues just topay the parks bills. yes, having a swimming pool would be nice, but at what cost? i suggest you confer with your friends and let them tell you all about it. plain and simple; we can build it, but our town cannot support the maintenance/operatio n or 20 year pay off. kinda like buying a new car and letting it sit in the driveway. and by the way, those do nothing elected officials you spoke of; you do know that burns, miller, smith, and grammer are included in that group having been in and out of office since the early 90's.
    18.07.08 13:32

Its about making the town a little more enjoyable for the kids that have to live here. Making money? Well we all pay the huge water bill(overcharged sewer cap) and everything else here. It isnt about profit it is about ENJOYMENT.

Saddle park is pretty much unusable, the grade and isolation I think are two factors. So are the two park over at the intersection of cherry and ws road on either side of the street...no go on having usable parks there. They are called parks but I think the names are just a politically correct thing, not real parks...

A nice local drug store, like the town used to have would be real nice to have here again, but unfortunately, no go so far. Yes I think level sidewalks along all of our main roads...with annually remarked crosswalks at all interesections would help a lot.

I AGREE. OUR ELECTED "OFFICIALS" HAVE NOT ADDRESSED YOUR ISSUES IN A MANNER THAT PLEASES YOU OR MANY OTHERS, MYSELF INCLUDED. BUT, I MUST REMIND YOU THAT MANY OF THOSE "OFFICIALS", ELECTED OR APPOINTED, ARE STILL AT THE HELM OF OUR SHIP. WE MAY NOT BE SINKING, BUT IT APPEARS OUR RUDDER MIGHT BE STUCK IN A SAND BAR. BEFORE YOU GO OFF AND LAY BLAME TO THOSE WHOM YOU DID NOT SUPPORT PREVIOUSLY, TAKE INVENTORY OF WHERE WE ARE NOW, AND WHO HAS BEEN IN OFFICE, I.E., CITY COUNCIL AND EDC MOST OF THE TIME IN THE PAST 10-15 YEARS. IT JUST MIGHT SURPRISE YOU.

I AGREE! FOR TOO LONG OUR CITY HAS WORKED UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF A SHORT SIGHTED ADMINISTRATION WITH NO CLEAR PATH OF A MASTER PLAN THAT COULD BENEFIT THE CITIZENS AND THEIR WAY OF LIFE. IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT BRINGING IN NEW BUSINESS OR BUYING PROPERTY TO KEEP JUST IN CASE SOME ENTITY WOULD COME IN AND GIVE US A BUNDLE FOR IT. PERHAPS THIS WAS THE DREAM OF THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION AND THE DREAM HAD VISIONS OF FT. WORTH'S TRINITY RIVER PROJECT...SO NEAR...YET SO FAR.
WHAT THE PEOPLE IN OUR TOWN HAVE NEEDED THE MOST, AND NO ONE IN LEADERSHIP WAS LISTENING...WHAT THE PEOPLE WANTED AND NEEDED MOST WAS A DECENT PLACE TO LIVE. REGULAR SIDEWALKS, PARKS, COFFEE SHOPS, BOOK STORES, NATURE HABITATS...YARDS AND NEIGHBORHOODS PEOPLE CAN BE PROUD OF, MEDICAL SERVICES, SAFETY...REDUCTION IN CRIME....IT'S TIME TO GET TO WORK...IT'S TIME FOR OPEN GOVERNMENT...NO MORE KEEPING PEOPLE IN THE DARK ABOUT OUR FUTURE...IT'S TIME TO HOLD THE NEW MAYOR AND THE CURRENT CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS ACCOUNTABLE...THE PAST IS OVER AND WE CAN'T SPEND TIME REVISITING IT...NOW IS THE TIME TO LOOK OUT FOR OUR PEOPLE AND THEIR WAY OF LIFE...THANKS

What improvements would you like to see the city do to the city properties?
On my short list I would like to see SMOOTH, EASY TO NAVIGATE,SIDEWALKS ALONG ALL MAIN ROADS-mainly Cherry Lane and WS Road and meadow park as well.
    Comments:

Amen to that one...I think that if Cherry Lane is redone in that area that the road crew should put CONCRETE under all of the adjacent turn lanes as a substrate to the surface of asphalt(left/right turn lanes in all directions) since standing water there during rains erodes the base of lots of the lanes in that bridge area(where the light is by the bridge)

Everyone seems concerned with the asbesto removal. Can any of you think of any other dangers when it comes to demolishing that area? Think of the year it was built and the type of materials they used then. Some of those materials you don't want going into the ground.

they don't have to contact the federal gvmt. for the proper code all they have to do is hire a licensed company to do an asbestos survey and another licensed company to abate any that is found before demolishon. its a shame that your buddy outz ran off carlisle and his crew they knew all about these things
