NEWS ALERT   !!!!!
Another increase coming   .When the garbage contract is up there for their review soon, there is going to be an increase because of the fuel cost. We are already paying about $1.35 more than the garbage company charges the city for each household. The city is making a profit from you and me.
Sue, Don and Gary gave this company a 5 year contract but did not lock in the fees. Sue did not like waste mangement she said their truck leaked oil in front of her house Gary did not like them because he said they left limbs in his yard ,and Don thought we just needed a change. Is this really the reasons they changed or was it the $$$$$$$$$$ that made their decisions? Who is going to help pay your gasoline bills???
SO DIG DEEP AS THE RAISES FOR CITY SERVICES ARE JUST STARTING.

Good morning. In less than an hour, aircraft from here will join others from around the world. And you will be launching the largest aerial battle in the history of mankind. "Mankind." That word should have new meaning for all of us today. We can't be consumed by our petty differences anymore. We will be united in our common interests. Perhaps it's fate that today is the Fourth of July, and you will once again be fighting for our freedom... Not from tyranny, oppression, or persecution... but from annihilation. We are fighting for our right to live. To exist. And should we win the day, the Fourth of July will no longer be known as an American holiday, but as the day the world declared in one voice: "We will not go quietly into the night!" We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

An elderly woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walks from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course , the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After two years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman one day by the stream <

'I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house.'

The old woman smiled, 'Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? '

'That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them.'

'For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table.

Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house.'

Each of us has our own unique flaw. But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding.

You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

SO, to all of my crackpot friends and relatives, have a great day and remember to smell the flowers on your side of the path!

why does no one, not even anonymouth, have an answer to this question:

Cheif Mills, Gus Pappas, Dena Daniels as City Manager's of White Settlement did not have an assistant city manager. So, why does Jimmy Burnett need one? What has happened in our city government that requires TWO city managers?

A clan is a group of people united by kinship and descent, which is defined by perceived descent from a common ancestor. Even if actual lineage patterns are unknown, clan members may nonetheless recognize a founding member or apical ancestor. The kinship-based bonds may be merely symbolical in nature, whereby the clan shares a "stipulated" common ancestor which is a symbol of the clan's unity. When this ancestor is not human, this is referred to as animallian totem. Clans can be most easily described as tribes or sub-groups of tribes. The word clan means 'family' in the Gaelic language and the word entered into English as a label for the tribal nature of Gaelic society in about the year 1425.[1] In the 20th century, the word entered into use internationally in scientific descriptions of territorial and group behavior in various species of mammals, including hyenas, badgers and rats

The reason Jimmy needs an assistant is
because Sue,Don and Gary hired Jimmy with absolutely no experience and they had the attorney they used on James recall to draw Jimmy up a contract and it is going to cost the city a very big bundle of cash to get rid of Jimmy. He has to have an assistant as he has no knowledge of what he is suppose to do. They hired Linda Ryan and she is not experienced either. Her experitise is in finance not city manager. she knows a little more than Jimmy but not much. And I will bet she has a contract now or soon will have and it will cost us a bundle to get rid of her. But Jimmy lets Sue, Don and Gary have the full run of the place, where if we had a certified city manager and a decent council this city could turn itself around ,but under the circumstances it will not change.Instead of advertising for a certified city secretary they hired Mike Arnold's future daughter-in-law as city secretary for 90 days , but they are paying for her to go to school to learn the job.( So I am sure if she wants the job in 90 days it will be hers) We pay for the education and then they move on. Just like on the boards everyone working or connected to this city is going to be hand picked for the benefit of Sue, Don, Gary, Hatcher, and Jimmy. They now have full control so lets hold on and see how this ride goes.
bUT FOR THE INFOMATION TO OLD fART the last assistant city manager was in the 1980's and that was Bob Salinas ,the city had a lot more businesses then But that position was done away with until now and Jimmy hired Don Ives without the council approving reopening that assistant position. And it still has not been officially approved as a new position.

well, our new mayor and council are off to a path of destruction. they are buying the old graystone apts and have alresdy bought all the land from Wyatt to the street beside graystone with the exception of the old carwash. with the city buying up all this land that is doing away with a lot of our tax base and the next move will be to raise all our taxes to make up for the lost income from city owned property. also last council meeting they want to add $1.00 to everyones water bill to pay for the expence of building and maintaing the dog pound. So if there is 25,000 water meters in White Settlement that will be $25,000 a month I am anxious to see the new budget. So start digging deep in your pockets as the price of living in White Settlement is going to be going up.

i wonder how the triplet supporters feel about all the money they spent on the apartments. looks like that money - $600,000.00+ - could have been spent on say A NEW ANIMAL SHELTER, or maybe some new police department positions for MORE OFFICERS TO HELP CLEAN UP THE STREETS ROM DRUG DEALERS! Ooooops, forgot, FRITO PIE OWNS A HOUSE USED BY DRUG DEALERS. AT LEAST THAT IS THE RUMOR FROM SOMEONE WHO "STAYS" OVER ON EAST MELROSE! yeah, we got some good people in charge now! i wonder what they will buy next and what ordinances will be changed to help "certain" business owners.

No 25,000 water meters is not a stretch. That is a low guess. all the new houses ,old houses and apts.(apts have indivdual meters even if the landlord pays the bills.) and businesses on hwy 183 and in the city of white settlement.

the best way to have a pool is use the excess waste we have in salery and benefits for an assistant city manager. If Jimmy does not know his job by now ,then we need ONE city manager that knows the job. Not Two that don't

I doubt that south Las Vegas residents would be the only one's to use a new pool. I believe that the city as a whole would benefit from some type of water activity for the kids. How can we expect new families to move into the city if there is no summer activities for children. I mean you can only pack so many kids into the rec center. Instead of buying property all over town and reducing our tax base, the EDC should be funding something that will bring new people in, and one little neighborhood park is not the ticket. The EDC could be offering low intrest loans to City business owners to fix up some of the aging buildings in town. Curb appeal goes along way to someone drivng through. and to the idea of a tax increase for any reason, I'll be the first to say HELL NO. The last administration spent their time building a sizable nest egg, just sitting there drawing interest, Its time to use alittle bit of it, not start hitting the citizens for money.
    01.07.08 11:08
  • So Right...........
What was the BOMB SHELL that Jimmy unloaded at the EDC meeting? No pool cause we will lose $100,000,000.00 in property tax base from Tarrant County? JoAnne Grammer wants to RAISE property taxes to pay for a pool that will be used by------SOUTH LAS VEGAS TRAIL FORT WORTH APARTMENT RESIDENTS!

By the way there was an other group interested in buying the graystone ,but Jimmy said he wanted the city to buy it so they could control what went there.I thought you could do that by ZONING   . But they wanted it so they made a offer of 1 million dollars and got it   . Now by the time they pay for demolition and hauling off all the material I would be willing to say you are looking at least another 150,000 dollars. Yes the dog pound was approved and the money budgeted, but if they put a mandatory $1.00 on each water bill, look what it leaves them to buy more land or who knows what else. The new regime has great BIG plans.

A little history lesson. The Graystone Apartments have been a problem for many years. Drugs, mostly, and some "gang" activety. If you remember back when Larry Hesser was in charge of the WSPD there was a multiple stabbing at those apartments. Larry Hesser, Mayor Ouzts, the City Manager and James Cowey were concerned about the safety of others. How to get the owners of Graystone to take better care of the property, and get rid of the drug dealers, and gangs? Even Nolan was upset about the place, especially being so very close to Liberty Elementary! So, what to do? James Cowey and Larrey Hesser went to the apartments, met with the "management", and conducted inspections of the living quarters. APALLING CONDITIONS!! So, James Cowey came up with an idea to help solve the problems. The units in need of repair should be condemed, tagged as uninhabitable, and have the utilities shut off until repairs were made. Of course the property owners in California?, Chicago?, were not interested in spending money for repairs, so, one by one the apartments became vacant. Now they have become condemed by the Board of Adjustment and Appeals, and demolition orders were given. At the last council meeting, the City Council met in executive session to discuss the apartment issue. In open session the City Council gave the City Manager permission to go out for bids for the demolition process. The wheels of Government roll S-L-O-W-L-Y!

the graystone decesion was made by Jimmy and Don Ives with the agreement of Smith and Wilson they were waiting for this election to be over to vote on it. Has not gone before full EDC only discussed with Marty Harrison( the EDC director) which she was in agreement.
Dog pound $1.00 was in executive seesion, but thats a no brainer as they have the votes to do what they want to so just put it on the agenda and let the people see how honest you are. they already have a $1.00 donation   (optional) on the water bill for the parks and rec. center. Where is the budget money?? Next thing you will know they will buy the cliff of rocks on W.S.Rd. they wanted to buy but enough people was against it and showed up at the meetings and they did not have the votes, now they have the votes it'll be back. (snip)"The video blasted across the Internet, drawing political blood from Senator John McCain within a matter of days.

Produced here in a cluttered former motel behind the Sony Pictures lot, it juxtaposed harsh statements about Islam made by the Rev. Rod Parsley with statements from Mr. McCain praising Mr. Parsley, a conservative evangelical leader. The montage won notice on network newscasts this spring and ultimately helped lead Mr. McCain, the likely Republican presidential nominee, to reject Mr. Parsley's earlier endorsement.

In previous elections, an attack like that would have come from party operatives, campaign researchers or the professional political hit men who orbit around them.

But in the 2008 race, the first in which campaigns are feeling the full force of the changes wrought by the Web, the most attention-grabbing attacks are increasingly coming from people outside the political world. In some cases they are amateurs operating with nothing but passion, a computer and a YouTube account, in other cases sophisticated media types with more elaborate resources but no campaign experience.

So it was with the Parsley video, which was the work of a 64-year-old film director, Robert Greenwald, and his small band of 20-something assistants. Once best known for films like "Xanadu"   (with Olivia Newton-John) and the television movie "The Burning Bed"   (with Farrah Fawcett), Mr. Greenwald shows how technology has dispersed the power to shape campaign narratives, potentially upending the way American presidential campaigns are fought.
Mr. Greenwald's McCain videos, most of which portray the senator as contradicting himself in different settings, have been viewed more than five million times - more than Mr. McCain's own campaign videos have been downloaded on YouTube.

"If you had told me we would have hit one million, I would have told you you were crazy," said Mr. Greenwald, who said he had no ties to the Democratic Party or Senator Barack Obama's campaign.."continued   (/snip)

Sue Miller did NOT have the authority to buy the house. you are right they could have held out for more money on selling the house, But the condition of the house they would have had to do a lot of work on it.Don't blame Ouzts for us losing the money   . If Sue had no over stepped her authority there would have been no house to sell, as we would never had bought it.

To: Just to set the record right

    Once again you have offered your two cents without any smidgeon of correctness about the situation as it was. But, I am certain that you believe it to be true. But I do have some questions for you;

    1. Why did the Crime Board, led by Sue Miller, buy that house?

    2. Who approved the purchase of the house?

    3. What was the intended use of the house by the city?

    21.06.08 17:05
  • Just to set the record right
The City did "NOT" "HAVE" to sell that house, and they did "NOT" "HAVE" to lose money on it Outz and co "CHOOSE" to sell it for less than was paid. They did "NOT" "HAVE" to accept "ANY" of the bids they could have rejected they and started over they "COULD" have set a minimum bid but then that would not have given them anything to rant about later.

Jimmy needs an assistant because he doesn't know what to do. He has no training at all at being a city manager   . Don Ives presented all the items on the agenda to the council, that was Jimmy's job.Jimmy had to get an assistant before Don left because he is lost on this job. Figure what the assistant city manager and Jimmy get paid plus their benefits you are talking about close to a quarter million dollars a year. If we had one city manager that was experieced and certified you could cut that in half. yes Linda Ryan was the one that Sue told to write the check for $75000.00 for the house on kate St. yes it was illegal as Sue never even brought it before the council or the crime board. The decision was made to buy the house by Sue, Gus and linda. Then we had to sell it and lost 10000.oo on the deal. wait till you see the next big purchase. we will keep buying property until our taxes will have to go up because the city owned property pays no taxes   . Keep your eyes open!

Why does Jimmy need an assistant? Pappas didn't need one, Dena Daniel didn't need one, Mills didn't need one, so WHY?? does Jimmy need one?
    21.06.08 13:10

this is for dilbert : the salary for Don Ives is $86000.00 a year and by the time you add insurance ,car allowance, and all the perks the total cost in a year averaged about $115000.00 a year   . They have already hired a new assistant for Jimmy   . They hired Linda Ryan she use to work here as a finance diretor. This is the council for the future and could not wait to start going backwards. Jimmy was not going to hire Gus as he would want the city manager job instead of assistant and Jimmy is not going to take back seat to anyone   . But they got Linda and her and Gus was always close.so now we wait and see who else from the past comes back

    Hey thanks for the info!

"Didn't know there was a gas pipeline there? Most people wouldn't. Buried pipelines carrying natural gas, propane, sewage, water, and electrical wiring are a fact of life in big cities and across the countryside. But the fact is that the Barnett Shale boom means more and more of those pipelines are being built in highly urban areas. It's a situation that is starting to make local safety officials, fire departments, and paramedics sweat — particularly in Texas, where nobody is required to let them know where such pipelines are buried. In fact, no one but the company, the Railroad Commission, and the property owners know even roughly where the pipelines are.
Pipelines aren't the only dangerous aspect of the gas boom that seems to be on the increase. Even gas company officials admit that the boom is drawing more and more inexperienced workers to drilling sites. "Veteran crews are being divided up and filled with people who have no experience whatsoever working rigs, laying pipe, and such," said pipeline company manager Jerry Holsworth.
And so accidents are increasing. At least two people have been killed in Barnett Shale operations thus far — not including the teenager who climbed atop a gas storage tank and lit a match to look into it over on the Wise-Parker county line last December — and there have been several accidents that caused injuries and evacuations. Up until now, most of those accidents have happened in rural or semi-rural areas, but these days they could just as easily happen in a heavily populated city neighborhood.
The Fort Worth Fire Department and other emergency workers refused to speculate on just how devastating such an accident could be — "I can't play the 'what if' thing. I just can't go there," explained one local emergency services official. But Gary Hogan, who got an education in gas well issues as a member of Fort Worth's gas drilling task force, said that if the recent Parker County explosion had happened in Fort Worth, "you'd be looking, minimally, at total incineration for hundreds of feet in all directions from the explosion point."
Then there's the question of the money people think they'll be getting every month. Truth is, by the time the royalties are divvied up among all the people who own part of the 80 acres or so atop a gas well, they'll be lucky if the check covers dinner out once a month — and we're not talking steak. Dave Stovall, owner of Old Town Real Estate Services on Park Place in the heart of the historic neighborhoods, said that if there is an inner-city accident related to a gas well or pipeline, insurance rates for homes near gas wells are going to go up, probably canceling out those royalty payments.
When landmen came calling in rural Parker and Johnson counties a few years ago to ask if they might lease mineral rights, it was often a no-brainer. They offered $500 per acre in bonus money and a share in 20 percent of any income produced by any wells they drilled beneat

Fort Worth pastor arrested on child sex charge

FORT WORTH — It began in February when the father overheard his 17-year-old daughter talking inappropriately over the phone.

On the other end of the line, the father said he later learned, was James "Jay" Virtue Robinson IV, pastor of Southwood Baptist Church, which the family had been attending for more than a decade.

The girl acknowledged that she had had a sexual relationship with the 31-year-old pastor.
